Jeanine Denise Hill

Jeanine Hill died peacefully at home on October 12, 2021, in Vienna, Virginia, after a lengthy battle with COPD. She was 69 years old.

Jeanine Denise Hill was born on April 7, 1952, in Yakima, WA, to her parents Claire Jeanine Laumonier Hill and Vernon John Hill. Her younger brother, Robert, was born in October 1953. She spent her early years in Alaska where her father was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The family later moved to Vienna, Virginia and Jeanine graduated from Oakton High School in 1970. She attended Northern Virginia Community College and Virginia Commonwealth University. Through her life, Jeanine worked with her father at the FAA, then at A.F. Meyer and Associates and as a contractor for Building Dynamics.

Jeanine became a mother at the age of 43, to her only child Celine Kivi Bobolsky O’Dell. Jeanine was a loving and devoted mother and was very close with her daughter. Celine loved spending time with her mother, whether it was just hanging out at home watching movies while cuddling the dogs, out and about exploring craft fairs and markets, or learning the fight song for the Washington Redskins. Celine often referred to her mother as her concert buddy and attributes her great music taste to her mom.

Jeanine was a committed daughter to both her parents, and extremely close to her mother Claire. They spent most of their last years living together. Claire passed away three days after Jeanine at the age of 94. They are in God’s hands together.

Jeanine exuded a fun and loving spirit with an exceptional sense of humor. She loved all her dogs: Chula, Carmen, Tassu, Cherni, Bixby, Candy, Bissou, and Hope. She was a diehard football fan and watched every game Washington played. She was a lifelong vegetarian and loved all creatures and nature. She spent many hours on the deck feeding the birds and squirrels. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed all types of crafts, knitting, stenciling, and creating fun works of art and crafts. Her Finnish American father and her French mother gave Jeanine a unique heritage, and she loved learning about and took great pride in her ancestry.

She had an amazing laugh and twinkle in her eye. Her smile and loving nature will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Preceding Jeanine in death are her father Vernon Hill (2009) and her brother Robert Hill (2013).

She is survived by her daughter Celine Kivi O’Dell and her son-in-law, Chris O’Dell, as well as Celine’s father, John Bobolsky.

Jeanine will join her Father, Mother, and Brother at the Columbarium at the Church of the Holy Comforter in Vienna, Virginia. Please join the family for her service, Friday, November 19th at 11am, in the chapel at The Church of the Holy Comforter. Celine would really like for Jeanine's friends and family to provide their favorite story of Jeanine, in the comments below. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Jeanine’s memory. The family suggests the Loudoun County or Fairfax County Animal Shelters.
