Jeanne G. Coons December 1926 to January 2023
Jeanne Gilmore Coons was the first child born to Vincent Gilmore and Anna McShane Gilmore of Wappingers Falls, New York. She graduated high school at the age of 16, received her degree from the State Teachers College at New Paltz, and began teaching elementary school.
Mrs. Coons married Howard Coons in 1953 and they had four children. The family moved from New York to Annandale, Virginia in 1969. Mrs. Coons continued her teaching career in the Fairfax County Public Schools.
Mrs. Coons enjoyed history, travel, reading, watching baseball, and playing the piano. She was the much-loved matriarch of the family, many of whom remained in the Northern Virginia area and gathered at her home every Sunday, as well as holidays and special occasions.
Mrs. Coons is survived by her brother Vince Gilmore, her children, Kathleen Crowe, Claire Scerra, Stephen Coons, and Anne Coons, and her beloved grandchildren Brendan Crowe, Brian Crowe, Patrick Crowe, Joseph Scerra, and Annemarie Scerra.
A mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale followed by interment at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of choice.

I want to send my prayers to Stephen and family at your time of grievance. I am so sorry for the loss of your mother.
