Born in: Keelung, Taiwan
Resided in: Vienna, Virginia

Jeannie S. Kierce, née Kuo, passed peacefully at the age of 76 at the comfort of her beloved home in Vienna, Virginia on September 5, 2025.

Jeannie was born in Keelung, Taiwan in 1949 to Ah-ben Kuo and Mei-Yuen Liu Kuo. She graduated Keelung Girls’ High School in 1971, attended Tamkang College of Arts and Sciences in Taipei, Taiwan from 1971-1975, and graduated in 1978 from American University in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in English Literature. She began her lengthy career in the U.S. Federal Service in 1982 and became a naturalized U.S. Citizen in 1984. Her Federal Service career allowed her to travel the world with postings in Taiwan, Greece, and Japan. She retired from Federal Service in 2020.

Jeannie will be remembered as a sweet, kind woman whose strength and determination carried her through every chapter of life. Her love of English romance novels began in her college days at American University, where she discovered Jane Austen. Possibly the greatest joy in Jeannie’s life was food, in both sharing it and creating it. She showed her love through her food; her spicy cucumber salad was notorious, she was known to crank out jiaozi by the hundreds, and her pu-pu platter accompanied many special occasions.

Jeannie had a remarkable ability to set her mind to something and make it happen. Whether it was working tirelessly at multiple jobs or pulling together the resources to buy a home, she faced challenges head-on with quiet courage and resolve.

Above all else, Jeannie’s life was defined by her selflessness. Her every decision, every sacrifice, was made with her family’s happiness in mind. She poured her love and energy into their well-being, always putting their needs before her own. Her devotion was unwavering, and her legacy of love and selflessness will live on in the hearts and minds of her family, her friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her sister Ellen Chang and brother Song Kuo. She is survived by her twins, daughter Megan (David), son Michael (Jacqueline), her treasured grandchildren Logan, Aubree, Sydney, and Clayton, and brothers John Kuo, Dong Kuo, Ko Kuo, and Fu Kuo.

A celebration of life for Jeannie will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 11am at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Ave W, Vienna, VA 22180.

  5. Jeannie was an incredibly unselfish delight. I treasure our 20+ year friendship and can’t believe there will no longer be Asian meals together in local restaurants or telephone calls to stay mutually informed and up to date in each other’s lives. Her friendship meant the world to me and I miss her greatly.

Jeannie lit up talking about her beloved two children and she was so proud of their maturation and the adults they had become. And NOTHING gave Jeannie more joy than her four grandchildren. The opportunity to live together with Megan the last several months and to spend time with her and the grandchildren was something she wouldn’t trade. Jeannie is always in my heart. Jerry
