Joan L. Harshfield (age 80) of Vienna, Virginia passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at her daughter's home. Beloved wife of the late Richard Harshfield; loving mother of Jan Burch, James, John, & Michael Harshfield; & sister of William Loveless & the late Warren Loveless. She is also survived by eight grandchildren & four great-grandchildren.

Mombo’s acknowledgment of the spiritual realm was as real to her as that of the physical realm. My mother’s faith in her transition to another form of existence was consumate and unshakable. My sister Jan witnessed this in the final moments of mom’s consciousness before she let herself go and move onto the next “world” that God has planned for her. This is indeed great solace to all who loved her so dearly – that Mombo ended her life here in such peace.
