It was a pleasure knowing Johnny! He was always telling me of his many travels and always came to the office in Menlo Park with a big smile…..God rest your soul Johnny and peace be with you. Diamond Lil. (as he called me)

I whisper a fare thee well for John, His robust yet gracious friendship from the time I was honored to meet him during my tenure at U of Pittsburgh endures forever. Godspeed you dear man…and beaucoup appreciation for your spirit.

John was a singular and enormous personality who gave much to me and to others, and he was largely the founder of our associations Wexford Group International, Brookings Interagency Seminar Group, and Cosmos Club and I owe him for that (not to mention the Christmas parties!). He will be sorely missed.
Sorry to hear about Mr. Johnston passing.
Godspeed John Johnston. Your generous spirit and friendship will be missed by all.
Mr. Johnston was a true inspiration to the Wexford Team. His laughter, smart wit, and generous nature touched the hearts of all who knew him. As the former Wexford HR Director, I have many fond memories of Mr. Johnston and the firm which he co-founded with LTG William H. Reno, U.S. Army. For example, after each business trip, he always brought numerous gifts back to the staff. He also hosted several wonderful staff parties at his home and at local Vienna restaurants where he was the perfect host. As an avid art collector, his paintings graced every hallway at Wexford. Also, during Christmas, he personally decorated the entire office with a multitude of decorations from his “very large” assortment of holiday decor. Mr. Johnston had one of the largest “business contacts” databases I have ever seen! Frequently, he would ask his staff to print off the latest version of his address book which included hundreds of names from the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Johnston designed The Wexford Group International logo which hung proudly in the corporate Reception area. He often told the story that he named the company after “Wexford Drive” which was the street he lived on in Vienna, VA. Mr. Johnston, thank you for being a inspirational Chairman of the Board. You will be missed dearly. Regards, Patricia J. Dunnigan
Remember John as a true friend who enjoyed life and enriched and brought joy to us all. From trips together on the Army Science Board to opening Applied Solutions International (ASI), the many parties and an enduring friendship I will miss John and all the fun times we had together.
Johnny … you will long be remembered by me for your gifts (be they large or small) to each of us … from the founding of the IASG to the Navy Santa you presented to me at your Annual Christmas Party. This was so typical of your friendship to us all. Rest in peace my friend. We are looking forward to your next endeavor on the other side.
To a great friend; may God grant you an easy entry into his domain.
