October 14, 1941 ~ August 24, 2025

Resided in: Vienna, VA

John Joseph (Jack) Feeney, formerly of Larksville, PA, and a longtime resident of Vienna, VA, passed away on August 24, 2025, at his son’s home, surrounded by his loving family in Oakton, Virginia. Born in Larksville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Thomas and Josephine (Egan) Feeney.

Jack graduated from Larksville High School in 1959, where he first met his wife Rita. Their love was lifelong, meeting for the first time on a walk home from school. Jack graduated from King’s College in May 1964, and he and Rita were married one month later.

Similar to his brother Thomas and his father, Jack was an educator. He worked for the Arlington County Public Schools for 30 years, retiring at the age of 55. During his retirement years, he focused with pride on his family, especially spending time with his grandkids and with his grandnieces and grandnephews.

Jack was a lover of life, family, and friends. He and his wife, Rita, were married for 60 years and traveled extensively in the U.S. and occasionally internationally. He was quick to support friends and family. He will be remembered as an avid cyclist, a coach of many sports, the family photographer, a historian, and a Jeopardy enthusiast.

He is survived by his devoted wife Rita Carver Feeney; sons John and Skip Feeney; grandchildren Allison, J.J., and Lucy Feeney, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Feeney and Thomas’s wife, Paula.

  1. Dear Mrs. Feeney, John & Skipper (and to the Bogdon Family, relatives and close friends) ~
I am so very sorry to read the sad news about Mr. Feeney’s passing. He will be remembered as a wonderful dad, husband and neighbor to all of us who were fortunate enough to grow up on Valley Drive. I can hear his kind greeting and of course, his distinct laughter, and will remember his sweet disposition towards all of us kids back in the day as well as on the occasions that afforded us some time to visit after we reached adulthood. May God hold all of you close to Him and surround you with His peace, comfort and love. I will keep all of you in my ongoing prayers.
    Much love,
    Kathy (Sedlock) Rogers
