My sympathies to John’s family. He was much admired.
As a young junior officer, I had the good fortune to meet John on a few occasions and to witness his extaordinary leadership and managerial skills. Many of his accomplishments live on to this day in the Department. My sincerest condolences to his family.
I offer my condolences to John’s family. He set a wonderful example for so many of us, first in the Department and later in his volunteer service as Chair of the State Department Federal Credit Union’s Board of Directors. We are enriched by his life and his service.
Dear Thomas Family – it deeply saddened me to learn yesterday of John’s passing. He was a friend whom I greatly admired for his keen understanding of people, his dedication to his work and for his extraordinary abilities as Assistant Secretary of State for Administration. John was a major figure in the lives of literally thousands of people who never knew him. He was the Department’s provider. Please accept my sincerest condolences. May he rest in peace.
