Johnny, Go rest high on the mountain! You’ve earned it. Prayers to his family.
Quitting was not an option. There was no quit in you, brother. You fought the fight and crossed the line. May you now be at peace with God. Love, Billy (BE3)
Jackie and I send you our deepest sympathy. We can only imagine what it’s like to lose a son. We are always here for you, whatever you need.
Johnny, So sorry to hear about your passing. My Dad thought the world of you and was so happy when you bought the mountain from him. You are now with him and all your other relatives and friends that have left this world before you. We pray for comfort and healing for all your family during this time. God Bless until we meet again.
Johnny – You can now rest in the Glory of our Lord. No pain – no cancer. Darien, Aunt Lola, Uncle Bill, Michael, Billy & family members – our sympathy and prayers are with you during this time.
We are so sorry for your loss. Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. It was always good to see Johnny. When he would come in he would always go by Danny’s and chew the fat. Now they are meeting again and I’m sure they have a lot of catching up to do.
We would like to express our deepest condolences to the entire family of this precious man. Know that he is indeed in the everlasting arms of our Lord.
I met and cared for John during his stay at Fairfax Hospital. His enthusiasm and energy was contagious, and he had a working office from his bed! We talked about his son, family, music, and business. He was my patient and friend. I send my condolences to all who knew him and loved him. John was a special man.
Later, on a proper page.

Honest to a fault, John was a good man, a good father, and a good friend. One hell of a musician -rock-solid rhythm guitar player, he played and sang his heart out every time he picked up a guitar -especially his 47 Gibson. Life threw him a few curve balls, but he found his groove every time. My life is richer having known him and I am proud to say John Emerson was a friend of mine. Darian, your father loved you more than anything in the world. He never stopped talking about you and all the things you like to do and are great at; that’s how proud of you he was. And justifiably so, because you are a great kid.
I met John when he attended computer school with my husband. John was a funny guy. He called me “Empress” probably because I tried to boss him around. He was a great musician and we were friends for more than 16 years, celebrated his son’s birth, my son’s graduation and enjoyed listening to his beautiful music. He was taken too soon, and we will miss him.
Georgia and I want to send our thoughts and prayers to Johnny’s family whom we never had the pleasure to meet, and our old friends from Adahi Bill, Lola, Billy, Lisa and family. Although the years and miles have sent us down our own paths, you are in our thoughts at this time of sorrow.
My husband and I met John, on the evening of February 16th, 2013. The three of us found ourselves in the emergency room. I know now that God and the universe brought us to this meeting place, so that we too could know the extaordinary son, brother, father and friend spoken of in these written words. We sat over the course of the evening, drawn to one another as if a higher spirit knew the journey ahead. We cried and held one another. We prayed for courage, strength and clarity. Three stranges no more. John Emerson stood tall and couragous in that evening, he faced each of those doctor’s with conviction and a determination to get home to his son and family. We knew in the short time we spent with John exactly who he was and what a gift that our paths had crossed. We are truly sorry that he is no longer here with us on this earth, however we can be certain his spirit soars high and free.
Dear Johnny. You will stay forever in my heart and in my soul, like greatest MAN in the world.
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with Johns entire family. He was a great neighbor for many years and I could always count on him when I needed anything. I hope that memories of time spent together bring you comfort at this time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Darien and the rest of the Emerson family. From, Raptors Black, VYS
John was my son Walt’s soccer coach for five seasons. He was an excellent role model & made a huge difference in my son’s life. John will be missed.
The entire staff of Mosby Woods Elementary expresses condolences to Darien and his family. Your dad clearly enjoyed beginning his day walking with you to school. He was thrilled with your athleticism and proudly emailed the staff photos of your sports accomplishments. We are so sorry for your loss.
John will surely be missed-I know that my life was richer for knowing him.Our condolences to his extended family and to his brother Mike-We will all miss his humor and dedication—Tony & Sherry
What to say of a man who left many memories…. I remember sitting in the hall at Madison, hearing him, Ken Grandjean, and a few others play bluegrass and a few country tunes 1 lunch time….. or going to a Bluegrass festival with his Brother Mike and him….. Always a joy to see and laugh with Johnny !
My thoughts and prayers are with the Emerson family, especially Darien who I had the pleasure to coach soccer when he was with the Maniacs. John showed a love & enthusiasm for the sport of soccer & had great joy in watching his son. Here is a quote addressed to Derien, I know all too well what it is like to lose a parent to Cancer at a young age, stay strong..your dad lives on through you. “Until you have a son of your own . . . you will never know the joy, the love beyond feeling that resonates in the heart of a father as he looks upon his son. You will never know the sense of honor that makes a man want to be more than he is and to pass something good and hopeful into the hands of his son. And you will never know the heartbreak of the fathers who are haunted by the personal demons that keep them from being the men they want their sons to be”. Thoughts & Prayers with you. May John R.I.P. singing & playing songs from heaven.
