Joseph R. Riess, Jr. (age 70) of Vienna, VA, passed away on December 16, 2006, ending his courageous battle against cancer. Loving husband of Judith S. Riess; father of Katherine (Pierre) Irving, Julia (David) Wooten; stepfather of Steven (Kim) Shellnutt, Michael (Nancy) Shellnutt, Timothy (Claudia) Shellnutt, Richard (Tonya) Shellnutt and Mary Elizabeth Sargent; grandfather of 20; brother of Elizabeth Riess and Michael (Judy) Riess. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Rd., Vienna, VA on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 12 p.m. Navy burial at sea.
