JOSEPH THOMAS FAHEY (Age, 94) of Temple Hills, MD, passed away May 30, 2015, after suffering a stroke.

Joe was a much-loved uncle, brother, and friend with a gentle spirit and generous heart. He was an amateur photographer that enjoyed taking pictures of his beloved Washington, DC and its historic monuments. He was a devoted member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Temple Hills, MD. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus St. Pius X Council No. 4076 and held the honor of a 4th Degree Knight. He was also an active member of the American Legion. He was always cheerful and ready to help those in need.

Joe was a 1941 graduate of St. Johns College High School, Chevy Chase, DC. He began his Federal career in 1941 in the D.C. Navy Yard, served honorably in the U.S. Army and spent almost 12 years at the Department of Agriculture before joining the Geological Survey in 196l. As a team member he participated in numerous special mapping projects involving Antarctica and Mars image maps. He retired April 14, 1976.

He was born May 3, 1921, in Washington, DC to Joseph and Frances, both deceased. His twin brother, Francis, predeceased him shortly after birth. He is survived by his sisters, Anita O'Dea of Annandale, VA and Mary Rooss, of California, MD; a brother, John Fahey of New Orleans, LA; nine nieces and nephews and many other family members and close friends.

Friends will be received at MONEY AND KING FUNERAL HOME, 171 Maple Avenue, Vienna, VA on Thursday, June 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 8601 Wolftrap Road, Vienna, VA on Friday, June 19 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 2210 Calloway Street, Temple Hills, MD 20748.
