On January 3, 2011, at home in Oakton, Virginia. Loving mother to Janet, Cynthia, Gretchen, and Karla; devoted grandmother to Eleanor and Julia Rapp and Genevieve Savoie.
Josie was born on November 7, 1922, into an immigrant Italian coalmining family in Sopris, Colorado, and during WWII moved to Washington to work in the War Department; there she met Karl H. Weber, her husband of 54 years who preceded her in death in September 2000. She rejoined the workforce to begin a 22-year career in counterintelligence with Central Intelligence Agency, where her husband had spent most of his career and became Director of the Office of Scientific Intelligence. As an intelligence officer, Josie achieved native fluency in Spanish.
She accompanied Karl on many foreign birding trips and retired in 1998 to care for him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Josie�s name be made to the Fisher House Foundation for military families.
