Born in: Washington, DC
Resided in: Vienna, Va

Kathryn “Kathy” Zinzi Etzel of Arlington, VA was gifted with life on September 22, 1950. She “graduated” from this earth on July 8, 2024.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father; Dr. Francis Zinzi, her mother; Kathryn Casey Zinzi, and baby sister Angela. She is survived by Casey Etzel (daughter), Tommy Etzel (son), Thomas Etzel (grandson), and Taven Etzel (granddaughter).
Her brothers, Louis (Libby) Zinzi, Francis Zinzi, Thomas (Louise) Zinzi, many beloved nephews, nieces, grand nieces, grand nephews, long time family friends and countless others who will miss her.

Kathy loved her faith, family, friends, happy hours, Christmas, and all the experiences life had to offer. She was taken way too soon and our hearts are broken.
While we will miss her each and every day, we find comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain, rather, in Heaven enjoying a Tito’s, tonic, two limes in a tall glass!

Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Kathryn Zinzi Etzel to the Poor Clare Monastery of Mary, Mother of the Church, 2505 Stonehedge Drive, Alexandria, VA 22306.
Please honor Kath by being kind to one another and to always; ‘”Have a great day and remember who gave it to you!”

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Our deepest sympathies to the entire Zinzi and Etzel families. We all raised our children and enjoyed many good times with Kathy and the kids from sports, to school dances, to events at the Arlington EDW Knights of Columbus. We will cherish our memories of Kathy and all her family. May she rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon her.

  2. My good fortune to meet Kathy and her family “back in the day” at St. Agnes. Truly a special person of great faith, with a beautiful soul and a lifting presence. She and her family are in my prayers at this difficult time. May she rest in peace!

  3. The first time we met Kathy was when my daughter introduced her as her friend, Casey’s mom. As their friendship grew we were able to spend time with Kathy at her Christmas parties, DJO school events, even a beach trip. She was truly an incredible woman and her relationship with God was ever present. She was so giving and found goodness in everyone.
We have been so blessed having Casey in our lives and always considered her a part of our family. I’m sure that this is so painful for Casey and Tommy and you’re both in our prayers!

  4. Casey,
My deepest sympathies to you and your family. May God hold her memories close to your heart and hold you and your family close to His.
    Sincerely,
    Andi Molinet

  5. Was so shocked to hear the sad news of your Mom’s death. She was an amazing woman of faith, had such a beautiful smile and was always so sweet, friendly and happy. I have so many memories of her which I cherish. It was a joy to know her and to have been a part of your lives at Saint Agnes, Casey and Tommy. I have photos of us from the late 1980’s which I treasure. Know your Mom and you are in my prayers and remembered in my Masses. God rest her soul and give you comfort! With sympathy and love, Father John Kelly
