Kevin Ross MacMillan
August 9, 1965 ~ July 2, 2024
Born in:
Morristown, New Jersey
Resided in:
Herndon, Virginia
Beloved brother and uncle, Kevin MacMillan passed suddenly on July 2, 2024. He was born in Morristown on August 9th, 1965. He lived his early life in Morristown and graduated from Morristown High. After attending County College of Morris and Trenton State College, he would begin his journey as a software engineer for GE Aerospace. He’d go on to work on many projects for Orbital Sciences in Virginia, and ultimately Northrop Grumman. Kevin was loved by his family and colleagues alike. What you saw was what you got. He was a confirmed bachelor but treated his niece and nephew as if they were his own children. He was also a huge fan of music and his comics. His CD and comics collections would rival that of some small stores. He was a big fan of Science Fiction movies and TV. His love of Mad Magazine showed a view into his sense of humor. He always had a “dad” joke to share. He was allergic to animals but had an affinity for dogs, often offering to babysit whenever a friend needed. He enjoyed running later in life, participating in many of the local 5K runs around the Herndon-Reston area. Kevin loved to learn and would often immerse himself in a subject once it caught his interest. He loved to read, write stories and spend time with those that he loved. He truly had a heart of gold. He is survived by his brothers Sean (Derya) and Danny (Nancy) and niece & nephew, Molly and Daniel. We will have a visitation for Kevin on Friday, July 19th from 6-8 at the Money & King Funeral home. All are welcome to stop by and say goodbye. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association.

Charities
The family greatly appreciates donations made to these charities in Kevin Ross MacMillan 's name.
Kevin was a dear friend of mine with whom I worked for many years at Orbital Sciences Corporation. We both enjoyed working on NASA programs and while running many software testing together, we will be talking about family, kids, space exploration and wondering how will be if humans live on Mars. Kevin’s kind heart, relaxed personality, and willingness to always help was contagious and greatly liked. I miss him dearly! My heart and prayers are with his family during this tragic time.

Kevin, although you and I never worked on the same programs at Orbital Sciences and NG, I always enjoyed talking with you and your sense of humor. You were very much loved by our colleagues. You came to my retirement luncheon on April 8, 2022. I can’t believe that day was the last time I saw you.
Kevin and I worked together in my first job out of college. His attitude, demeanor, and kindness left an indelible impression in how to be a great mentor and co-worker. Although I have at this point long departed from Orbital – his approach still resonates with me today and I hope I can continue project this kindness to my peers moving forward. Kevin you will be missed.
Kevin and I intensively interacted through 2 programs at work. It was my first job on OV3 Program at Orbital Sciences in McLean and the latest job on the HALO Program at NG in Sterling. He was a great reviewer and always gave helpful and constructive feedback. He authored design notes resulting in excellent guidance for development. He was kind, friendly, and carried a considerate loving heart. June 27 was the last time we had met at work, but sadly the last time. Kevin, I miss you!
Forever in my heart.
So sorry to have lost a great guy, cousin, and person. RIP Kevin ❤️❤️
Kevin was a great coworker. He had so much knowledge and was so kind to share and collaborate. I really enjoyed working with him. I am very sad to hear of his passing.
I am so sad to find out that Kevin has left this world. I loved working with him. The couple of years that he was my counterpart on Cygnus have continued to resonate inside me. His skills were always top notch, his insights keen, and his friendship genuine. I grieve with the rest of you.
So Sorry for the loss of Kevin. He was a kind soul. We grew up together in Morristown and went to school together fron grammer schoolthru HS together. Prayers to the family
