Kristen Nicole Kelly

August 17, 1970 ~ September 13, 2014
Kristen Nicole (Fleissner) Kelly
"Doops"
(Age 44)
On Saturday, September 13th, 2014, Kristen Nicole Kelly died in comfort at Reston Hospital Center in Reston, Virginia, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Beloved wife of husband Mark A. Kelly and devoted mother of Cooper Benedict Kelly and Grace Regina Kelly. Kristen is survived by her immediate family, as well as her parents John "Mike" Fleissner and Suzanne Fleissner, uncle Rev. Ambrose Hessling, O.S.B., sisters Yvonne (Tim) Sippy, Denise Fleissner, and Janine (Steve) Terrell, and nine nieces and nephews. Another sister, Regina Lavallee, predeceased her.
Born August 17th, 1970 in Peoria, Illinois, Kristen attended Academy of Our Lady/Spalding Institute in Peoria, before going on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Master of Science in Industrial Relations from Loyola University. She was presently employed as the Senior Vice-President of Human Resources at ComScore, Inc.
Kristen was a perpetual source of joy to her family and friends. Her intense, passionate spirit was impossible to ignore, and established her as an invaluable pillar of the Fleissner "hive." The youngest "guppy," she acquired the nickname "Doops" from her older sister Denise, and the loving moniker remained with her throughout her years. Noted for her fierce heart and love for others, Kristen was the willing vanguard of every battle. Her courage and strength, even in the face of immense circumstances, have left their mark on all whose lives she touched. The protectorate of our family, Kristen will forever remain in our hearts and minds; a shield from the storm; a light in the dark. Her spirit lives on, though she will be sorely missed.
Services will be held at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 201 E Frederick Dr., Sterling, VA 20164, at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 19th, 2014. Following the service, a gathering of family and friends will be held in the parish fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Kristen be made directly to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, either by check or payment through their website, www.stmatthewssterling.org. Please be sure to clearly put Kristen Kelly in the memo section of your check. In addition, Kristen wished to encourage those contemplating donation to consider donating blood and platelets to their local blood bank. My deepest sympathy to all the family. It is with deep regret that I see one of my “old” soccer players pass this young. She was a great young lady and a joy to know. We all wish the best to the family as you offer her to her Father in heaven where I am sure she is. In prayer, Mike Coleman
