Laura Allen Gholson died on Monday, January 7, 2008 at Sunrise of Hunter Mill in Oakton, Virginia. Mrs. Gholson, the widow of Rex L. Gholson, was born April 10, 1911 in England, Arkansas. She attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas and then taught sixth grade in England, Arkansas.
Mrs. Gholson was married June 25, 1932 and she and her husband later moved to Washington, D.C. They moved to Arlington, Virginia in 1941. Mrs. Gholson was a talented seamstress and quilter and a life-long member of the Methodist Church.
Mrs. Gholson was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Allen and eight siblings. Survivors include her daughters Linda Hartnett (John) of Bal Harbour, FL and Jane Lanham (Robert) of Wake Forest, NC and her son Donald Gholson (Sandra) of Wallace, NC. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren.
