LaVerne Joyce (Lehman) Hovley passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025. LaVerne was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She was employed as a secretary most of her life, beginning at NSA, in Maryland, where she met her forever love and husband of 63 years. They later relocated to Hawaii where her secretarial role continued at Pearl Harbor before returning to Virginia where she worked with the Fairfax County court system. LaVerne’s life was decorated with flowers and vegetables as a result of the countless hours she spent tending her gardens. She enjoyed shopping and found relaxation in reading and knitting. LaVerne was a loving mother and delighted in her grandchildren, who fondly called her “Nan”. LaVerne is survived by her husband, Marvin; two daughters, Bethany Buchanan (Darby) and Amy Wagner (Samuel); and four grandchildren, Peyton Abernathie (Andrew), Charlie Wagner, Morgan Buchanan and Tyler Wagner.
