Lois Anne Maxwell

Lois Anne Maxwell, 90, a longtime resident of Vestal, New York, passed away peacefully in Reston, Virginia, on August 9, 2025.

Born in Boulder, Colorado, Lois was the daughter of the late Doris and Verner Hurt. She was predeceased by her beloved high school sweetheart and husband, James M. Maxwell, with whom she shared many cherished years.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Sherilyn Appleby, and son-in-law, Charles Appleby; her son, James S. Maxwell; her grandchildren Ethan (Maria), Sean (Nancy), and Logan (Sara) Appleby; and Cameron, Connor, Christian, and Chelsea Maxwell. She was also blessed with a great-grandson, Austin Appleby, the son of Logan and Sara.

She will be inurned with her husband at the Big Moose Community Chapel in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, a place where they spent many autumns together surrounded by nature’s beauty.

Lois will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to family, and the joy she found in life’s simple, beautiful moments.
