Margaret A Boyle

August 8, 1936 ~ September 20, 2021
Margaret (Peggy) Boyle passed away at Arleigh Burke Pavilion at Vinson Hall on September 20,
2021.
She was born on August 8,1936 in Newport, Rhode Island to Raymond and Dorothy Cawley.
She attended St. Catherine’s Academy and Salve Regina College. She retired from First
Virginia Bank as a Commercial Customer Service Representative. She served as a volunteer
for many organizations, including Camp Fire Girls, Little League, Cub Scouts, American Cancer
Society and was head of Fairfax Hospital’s Auxiliary Volunteers.
She married Ronald Boyle on August 14, 1959, whom she was married to until her passing.
They have four children, Kathleen Boyle, Ronald Boyle, Jr., Peter Boyle and Margaret Coogan.
Family was everything to Peggy. As a young girl, she helped her father Raymond raise her
sisters and brothers when her mother was ill with Tuberculosis. She loved being a mother and
having family and friends around whenever possible. She met her husband Ron as a freshman
in high school and they were together from that day forward. After marrying Ron, who was a
career officer in the US Navy, they moved to Norfolk, VA, the first of several transfers. They
lived in Annapolis, MD, Weymouth, MA, and Brunswick, ME before moving to Vienna, VA in
1976 where she was still residing when she passed. With each move, she made lifelong friends
and a home where everyone was welcome and could enjoy her amazing cooking. We will
especially miss her apple pies and congo bars. She was always in the bleachers cheering on
her children and later her grandchildren at every game and at home she always rooted for her
favorite team the Boston Red Sox. After retirement, Peggy and Ron spent several years
traveling throughout the US, Canada and Europe. They enjoyed several cross country trips in
their trusty Suburban, always ending up in Alaska where three of their children lived. She loved
spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored and her grand dogs and cats who she
doted over.
She is survived by her husband Ronald Boyle; her children, Kathleen (David DeWolfe) Boyle,
Ronald (Lynne St. John) Boyle, Peter (Barbara) Boyle, and Margaret (Chris) Coogan; her five
grandchildren, Sarah Boyle (George Doumit), Alyssa Boyle, Laura Boyle, Matthew Coogan and
Thomas Coogan; her sisters Dorothy Meyer, Sr. Constance Cawley, Cathy (Jerry) Andrews,
Mary (Bob) Norbury; her brothers Patrick (Meryl) Cawley, John (Shannon) Cawley; her
brother-in-law, Brad Alton and sister-in-law, Mary Cawley. She is predeceased by her siblings
Joseph (Betty) Cawley, Patricia (Richard) Sousa, Rosemary Liversedge, Thomas Cawley, Ralph
Cawley, and Annie Alton.
