Marihart Means Lloyd

Marihart Means Lloyd was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and spent her childhood in Mayville, WI, a small town west of Milwaukee. She graduated from Milwaukee-Downer College in 1938 and married Omar Day (Pete) Lloyd on May 20, 1939. Marihart and Pete lived in Milwaukee until Pete's job with Inland Container took them to Louisville, KY in 1953. Pete predeceased her in 1985. Marihart is survived by her three girls, Martha Hite of Denver, Sarah Davis of Vienna, VA and Elizabeth Thorndike of Boston; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
When in Louisville, Marihart was the volunteer coordinator of Toys for Tots for many years and served as the leader of the Head Start Vision Screening in downtown Louisville. She also volunteered in the gift shop at General Hospital for 25 years. In 1966 Marihart and Pete headed to Princeton, NJ until 1972 when Pete retired and they returned to Louisville. They were members of 2nd Presbyterian Church in Louisville for 45 years, where Marihart served as a Stephen's Minister.
Marihart moved to The Virginian in Fairfax, VA in June 2002. She played in bridge groups, served as VP and then President of the Association of Virginian Residents, and participated in Great Books. Her friendships with residents and staff were meaningful. Marihart's family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the care and attention she received throughout her years at The Virginian.
