  8. Pokey will live on through the memories of the laughter and experiences we shared together, but also because he taught me something valuable about life. You’ll be missed by everyone you touched.

  9. Poky was an exceptional person, privately and on the job. He showed us how to loosen up and enjoy life, taught us to rock climb and to laugh (I believe he still holds the record for the number of times a pitcher of frozen margaritas can be inverted before spilling). Poky spent many a weekend and holiday meal with our family. We will never forget him and what he taught us about life.

  11. Rest in Peace, Pokey. Thank you for hosting Ernest’s rock climbing bachelor party and introducing me to bouldering, belaying and camp-cooking with meals prepared ahead of time. Sincerely, Bruce

  12. I had met Pokey of course. One day we sat out on the porch at Captain Salem Avery’s house. He and Retha had just gotten back from a splendid vacation. It was a chilly Sunday and we didn’t have too many people to see and so, we sat on the porch and just talked…My dear Retha, I am so sorry to hear about your great loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. My love, Margaret Palyo

  13. Retha, Poky’s days were too short on this earth. We are grateful for his tender care of you, for his dedication to love and cherish you and for his goodness to all of us. He seemed to find much joy in life, laughing long and often. He only frowned when Dad trimmed the trees. We pray God will take care of you in the days and months ahead. Love always, Mom and Dad

  14. Poky- I am so glad I got to talk with you and spend time with you that whole weekend of the hurricane. Thank you for your wisdom and wit. You will always be one of the most unique, memorable individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Take care Poky- Margaret

  15. When I think of Poky, the words that come to mind are: “What a great man!” To me there is no higher compliment. Retha, you and your family are in my prayers.

  16. I had the extreme pleasure to work with Poky for only a short time in 2004 and 2005. I always hoped that our paths would cross again. It would appear that won’t happen on earth. He was a great guy and I was truly saddened to hear of his passing. -Craig Coburn

  17. Dear Aunt Eleanor, Cousins Lynn & Matthew. I was so sorry to learn of Marks recent death. I have such happy memories of all the family gatherings we celebrated as children growing up in the Detroit area. The pokryfki family is a special family and I am certainly proud of our history and legacy. Mark was so much fun to know as a child. I regret that we lost touch with one another as adults. Hope this brings some small comfort knowing that my thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. God bless! Sandra (Leonard’s daughter)
