Martha C. Nelson, MD

Martha Christine “Marti” Nelson, age 78, passed away on December 20,2025, in Great Falls, Virginia.

Born on October 12, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, Marti lived a life marked by dedication and compassion, along with a love for travel and fine dining. She pursued a distinguished medical career, becoming a physician specializing in Musculoskeletal Radiology. Her work reflected not only her intellect and precision, but also her deep commitment to patient care and the medical community.

Marti was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, and love of her life, Wayne Nelson, in 2020. She was both a mother and grandmother, who took great pride in her family. She is survived by her daughter, Carey Nelson Burch Leo, Carey’s husband, Anthony, and their children, Hunter and Kendall; and by her son, Trevor Nelson, his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Alexandra and Sophia. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

A Celebration of Life honoring Marti will be held on February 1, 2026, from 11:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Westwood Country Club.
