Passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Leesburg, VA. Born in Washington, DC on November 8, 1914. Marty was an active member of the Arlington community where he settled with his family. A founding partner of the accounting firm Brown, Dakes and Hoke, he also served as a volunteer for the Arlington Sheriff's Department, as the Vice-Governor of the Optimist Club of Virginia, and taught accounting night school at Benjamin Franklin University. He was also a charter member of the Washington Golf & Country Club. It was with great pleasure that, later in life, he also worked as an official on the PGA Tour and Senior PGA Tour. He is survived by daughter Florence, his second wife Jane and her two children Debbie and David, his two grandchildren, Wendy and Ryan, and one great-grandson, Gary. He was predeceased by his first wife Bessie in 2000, and his son Gary in 1949.

A viewing will be held at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Avenue, Vienna, VA 22180 on Tuesday, May 26 at 10 a.m.; services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Brown's Memorial Cemetery on Route 7 between Colvin RunRoad and Springvale Road. He will be laid to rest next to his father, Elmer Brown.
