  8. To Irene and the kids, my heart is saddened as another one of us, the faculty and staff at Thoreau, goes to the great treachers’ lounge in Heaven. Blessings to each of you as you grieve; your faith in the Resurrection will see you through the dark days ahead. Hugs to you.

  9. Our sympathy to you and your family. We will always have fond memories of our times on Anna Maria Island. Our 4 o’clock get togethers under the gazebo, getting everyone in the pool just to mention a few. I guess we can sum it up by saying that we all met as strangers and became good friends; may we meet in heaven where friendships never end. God love you…we do.

  10. My love, condlences, and deepest sympathies go out to you Irene and all of the family. Marty will be sorely missed by me and all who knew him. The great times we had growing together in our families will live in our memory and the era of the three amigos will always be special to me. Jim

  11. We will always remember the great times we had square dancing together. Our sympathy goes out to you, Irene, on the loss of your dance partner. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

  12. Marty was a special member of the Thoreau faculty for many years and I was fortunate to be a friend and colleague in the Social Studies Department. Marty was a dedicated teacher and a hard working representative in our teachers’ organization; he spent a lot of energy and time devoted to improving teachers’ salaries and benefits. We are all very grateful. Marty will also be remembered as a friend to all who knew him I extend greetings and sympathy to his family from Jeff Bonnell (Atlanta) and Peter Sixsmith (Durham, England). Jeff was an English teacher or our 2nd floor wing (1970-’77) and Peter was my teacher exchange partner (1981 who is grateful to Marty for all the assistance he gave him during the exchange. Marty will be remembered by all who knew him with admiration and affection. There were so many good times we had together.

  18. It is with a heavy heart that I say good-bye to Uncle Marty. He has always been part of all of our family celebrations. We were always greeted with a huge smile and hug. He was such a sweet and gentle man, I believe he might have been the original dog/cat whisperer, everyone was drawn to him even those with four legs. You will be missed and remembered.

  19. Irene and family. We just received the word of Marty’s passing. We will remember him in our prayers. It must have been fate that reunited our COYNE families after so many years. How well I remember the visits that the Pittsburg Coynes made the Coyne’s in Bridgeport. Rest in peace my friend.
