She was born in Rochester, NY, of loving parents, the late Carmela and Michael Aiello on July 4, 1944. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from Nazareth High School and College. Her graduate education included Tufts, Middlebury and Harvard Universities and studies in Italian Renaissance Literature in Naples and Florence. She married Norval Stanley Peabody III "Stan" on November 6, 1971 and traveled in Europe and lived in Nepal for over 3 years. After returning from Nepal in 1983, Mary Ann continued language studies for teacher certifications in English and ESL at SUNY Brockport and was Director of the Italian Studies Center at Nazareth College for 2 years before moving to Reston, Virginia in 1987. She taught at Jeb Stuart High School for twenty years where she was devoted to her colleagues, friends and students. Mary Ann inspired everyone to love life and beauty, and to honor the "life of the mind." She was devoted to social justice issues and founded an Amnesty International Program at Jeb Stuart. Mary Ann has two beloved children, Norval Stanley Peabody IV, "Tino" and Antonia Aiello Peabody and grandchildren Noah (NSP V) and Aven Peabody. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Erin Peabody and her future son-in-law, Matthew Brackens, her Godson, Parish Pellegrino and Goddaughters, Lauri Ruiz and Brianna Iskenderoglu. She leaves her extended family in Rochester and many many cherished friends in Virginia, Rochester and around the world. Mary Ann and her family thank all of those who loved, cared for, and encouraged her during her long illness. Mary Ann died peacefully at her home in the care of her family and close friends on April 20, 2013.
