Mary Y. Jones

February 15, 1941 – July 12, 2025

Mary Catherine Young Jones, 84, of McLean, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Born on February 15, 1941, in Conway, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Prouse Young and Joe Fred Young.

Mary was a proud native of Arkansas and dedicated much of her life to education. She taught fourth grade in Conway, where she was beloved by generations of students. Her commitment to excellence in the classroom was recognized statewide when she was named Teacher of the Year by the Arkansas Press Association. She was a passionate Razorback fan and also enjoyed the daily challenge of playing Wordle.

She is survived by her loving siblings: Donna Franklin of Pencil Bluff, Arkansas; Joe Fred Young, Jr. of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Donald Young of Independence, Missouri; and Paul Young of Conway, Arkansas.

Mary leaves behind two devoted children: Robin Jones Wilcox of Columbus, Ohio, and J. Stephen Jones, MD, of McLean, Virginia. She was the proud grandmother of Adam Clevenger of Columbus, OH; Andrew Clevenger, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Naomi Wilcox of Chicago, Illinois; Jake Wilcox of Wintersville, Ohio; Jared Fox Jones of Seattle, Washington; and Kate Guess of San Francisco, California. She also leaves five cherished great-grandchildren.
