Maureen Anne O'Brien

Maureen “Reenie” O’Brien, 78, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully in Great Falls, Virginia, on May 25, 2026.

Reenie dedicated much of her career to the Maryland State Department of Education before retiring. She never married and had no children of her own, but she was deeply loved by her extended family and held a special place in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her love of genealogy, her easy-going nature, sense of humor, and devotion to family.

Reenie was preceded in death by her brother, William O’Brien, and her sister, Kathleen Bowen. She is survived by her brother James O’Brien and his wife, Jeri; her brother Patrick O’Brien and his wife, Patricia; her nieces and nephews, Jonathan O’Brien and his wife, Maria; Kelly O’Brien and her husband, Duncan; Elizabeth Versace and her husband, Jerry; and Kevin O’Brien and his wife, Jamie. She is also survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews, Vincent, Madison, William, Marlee, Malin, and Ashley, as well as many other loving family members and friends.

In keeping with her wishes, no formal services are planned. She will be cremated, and the family will gather privately in Maryland to remember her together.
