Melvin Clark Chappell died on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Fairfax Hospital. A long time resident of Vienna, Virginia, he was the beloved husband of Charlotte "Petie" Chappell; devoted father of Melvin, Jr., Jerry, & Bruce Chappell; brother of William, Frances, Ann, grandfather of five grandchildren & four great-grandchildren.

Petie & Boys: My heart & prayers go out to each of you. I can still see Melvin’s smile and hear his laughter from the days of being a young girl….coming with my dad to see our beagles and black angus at your place when we moved back from WV, to my teen years dating Brucie and visiting the Remington farm house while Melvin worked there on the weekends. Melvin never missed a chance to ask: “hey girl how’s old George doing these days”. You all have been a blessing to our family and my heart aches for your loss. xoxo….Lisa (the youngest Rolka girl)
Mrs. Chappell and family – I am so very sorry to learn of your sudden loss. The neighborhood will not be the same without Mr. Chappell’s ready smile and friendly greeting. I always remember how many times he had to put up with our dog barking at him and he would always just laugh!
