Resided in: Vienna, VA

With gratitude for a life lived with abundant love and friendship, and with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Michael Amouri on September 11, 2026, in Vienna, Virginia.

Michael was a man full of joy, remembered by all for his constant smile, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his vibrant presence as a dedicated community advocate.

The beloved son of George and Georgette Amouri, Michael graduated from George Mason University and spent many successful years in the television industry. He worked with WETA public television, Discovery, and as a talented freelance line producer. Later in life, he pursued his dream of opening a coffeehouse dedicated to creating a warm community gathering space. His creation, Caffe Amouri, became far more than he ever envisioned—serving as a true heart and hub for the neighborhood.

Michael’s legacy of warmth and service lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his life partner, Kathie Rawson; his beloved daughter, Nicki Amouri and daughter-in-law Kristen Amouri; his cherished granddaughters, River and Juniper; and his sister, Robin Schueneman, and nieces Heather Edwards (Ricky) and Kimberly Woods (Brandon).

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Kathy Amouri Sheridan. So sorry we haven’t stay in closer touch. Planed to have an Amouri family reunion back sometime before COVID, busy lives got in the way. Back before the Cafe, Michael taped my dad, Leslie Amouri’s memories of growing up in Australia and New Zealand. Still have the tape. Cousin Angela Tehan, our first cousin on the Amouri side, was there to prompt Dad with questions. Michael had a dream, and for filled that dream far beyond his expectations. My heart goes out to Kathie, Robin, Nicki, and Michael’s other close relatives and many friends. Sent with love, Kathy ❤️

  2. My family is so very sad at the loss of this wonderful man. He made a difference in our lives. We coached together when our daughters were very young. But he was not just a coach. He was a teacher about life. All who knew him were touched by his humanity and love for the world around us.

Joe and Sue Pegnato and daughters Karen and Elisabeth
