Nguyen Nhan, PhD

Nguyen Nhan, a loving husband, father and grandfather from Garrett Park, MD, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024. He was a cherished pillar of our family, remembered always for his warm smile, impeccable dress and endless stories.

Nhan was born in Hanoi, Vietnam. He came to the United States to attend Columbia University, from which he received his bachelor’s degree. He later received his PhD in Community Development Psychology from the University of Michigan. In 1960, Nhan married Nguyen Minh Chau. They lived in the Washington, DC area where he worked for the Vietnamese Embassy as a senior counselor. He later went to work as a psychologist at Graydon Manor, a residential treatment center in Leesburg, VA. He retired in 1997 to help raise his grand-daughter Emily who was the joy of his life.

Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA. The burial service will be private.
