My sympathies to all the family members. I met Oscar a few times and was able to see many of the qualities that will make his loss hard to accept. I saw him waiting in his Navy uniform to be taken to church. I heard him break into song without prompting. I watched him play catch with the neigbors children. I was even lucky enough to be the recipient of one of his barbs regarding my girth. So leaving this on a lighter side, I only wish I could have hidden in the back seat during his famous midnight ride to North Carolina. Damn, he knew how to live.
Nancy & Johnny So sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. For sure, a new bright light is shining in the heavens. Have enjoyed many conversations with your Dad over the past years. He was always so happy and full of life, and sure enjoyed teasing your Mom and your Aunt Marie. Have many fond rememberances of get togethers at the family farm in the “freestate” in the 50’s and 60’s. And, more recently at the Ashby Reunion each October. He will be greatly missed by many. Deepest sympathy to you and all your family. Linda Manuel (Thelma Lee’s daughter.)
We learned Sun. eve. of Jim’s death, and send his family our deep sympathy at this time. We always enjoyed visiting with him at the Ashby reunion in early Oct. each year…and some of his family when they were able to attend. He will be missed, but you have great memories to treasure in your hearts.
My Condolences. Oscar was a one of a kind. I will miss him.
I will miss seeing Oscar in the pew on Sundays. Vienna Baptist will be a dimmer place without his smiling face. May you experience God’s presence during this time of grief.
Nancy, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of sadness. May your Father’s love of children continue to shine in you.And May you find comfort in the Lord’s peace. The Bogdon Family
