It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Pennington, age 71, who passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at August Healthcare at Iliff in Dunn Loring, VA.

Tricia was born on February 6, 1954, in Camp Gordon, GA. She grew up in McLean, VA, where she graduated from McLean High School in 1972. After high school, Tricia worked for several organizations over the years, including the Department of Agriculture, Economic Perspectives, and Corning Mobile Access, where she spent much of her career as a secretary and office manager before retiring in 2014.

She was married to her beloved husband, Teddy Yeary, for 41 years. Together, they shared a loving and devoted life. Tricia was predeceased by her parents, Jim Pennington and Benita Cechet Pennington, as well as her sisters Lily Flaugh and Laurie Pennington, and her brother Jimmy Pennington (Annette).

She is survived by her husband, Teddy Yeary; her sister, Pam Kramer; her brother-in-law, Bill Munch; her brother, Mike Pennington (Ili); her stepchildren, Melinda Knapp and Shawn Yeary (Nicole); her three granddaughters, Ashleigh Knapp, Carleigh Knapp, and Michaela Yeary-Norris; three nieces and nephews; and her two beloved cats, Willow and Luna.

Tricia had a deep love for life and enjoyed many hobbies, including reading, solving jigsaw puzzles, visiting wineries, and vacationing in Aruba. She especially cherished her walks around the lake near her home, finding peace in nature.

A private service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter or animal rescue center in Tricia’s name, reflecting her love and compassion for animals.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

  9. Tricia started out as my sandbox friend. We were inseparable, and I cherish the wonderful bond we shared throughout our school and “Dempsey” years. As adults we took paths that led us in different directions, but Tricia was always in my heart and a phone call away. She was a true friend—always supportive, funny, and giving. I treasured our phone calls and brief visits even more knowing how precious they were. We had a rare bond that transcended a lifetime. I am proud to have been her friend and will miss her terribly. To her family and other close friends, I know the joy she brought to your lives as well. My thoughts and heart are with you all.
