Paul Anthony Shea, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully at the hospital on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Paul was born in Scranton, PA, on Aug. 27, 1936, son of the late Peter and Marie Shea. One of six siblings, he graduated from high school and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Scranton in 1963. Applying his degree, he dedicated his career to the U.S. Government as a Communications Electrical Engineer traveling around the world. Retiring after 25 years of dedicated service, he started a second career in the private sector.
Paul was a faithful member of St. Mark Church for over 40 years and practiced the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He was active in the church community, participating in the “Over 55” social group (M&Ms). As a member of the American Legion Post 180, Paul attended meetings and enjoyed the camaraderie with friends. As a homeowner at the beach, he served as the Condominium Association President, helping re-establish the management team. While stationed overseas, Paul volunteered with the New Delhi Embassy Softball league as the Men’s team announcer and Women’s league president, and he coached his children’s team.
Paul met his wife Anne at work. After their marriage, they mainly resided in Vienna where they raised two children. Paul’s favorite past times were visiting family and friends, sharing a good laugh, and fixing things, especially cars.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Anne F. Shea. He is also survived by his son Paul “Tony” Shea, Jr., and daughter Tracey and husband James Thompson, as well as his many beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his siblings, sisters Dorothy Morris, Audrey Olack, and Claire Shea, and brothers John “Jackie” Shea and Gerard Shea.

Mike and I first met Paul and Ann when we were in the same Small Community of Faith. We enjoyed his sense of humor and his wonderful laugh. We shared a chat with him and Ann and Tracey on Sunday mornings after Mass.
Ann and the family will be in our prayers during this time. May all the wonderful memories of Paul give you comfort at this time.
