Raffaela "Rae" Hurley

Raffaela “Rae” Hurley of McLean, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, joining her beloved late husband, Paul E. Hurley.
She was the devoted mother of Brian E. Hurley (Karen) of Chicago, Illinois; Dennis D. Hurley (Rebecca) of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Paula Jane Hurley of Easton, Maryland; and the cherished grandmother of Alex and Austin Hurley. Rae is survived by her sister, Irene Mascola of Fairfield, Connecticut, and was predeceased by her sister, Gloria Friedlander of Gaithersburg, Maryland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Rae was a proud graduate of the Katharine Gibbs College and held a variety of administrative and executive support positions over the years. She was a founding member of the Spring Gala for the Benedictine School for Exceptional Children in Ridgely, Maryland, where she dedicated more than 40 years to planning the annual fundraiser. Through her lifelong efforts, the Gala advanced the mission of the Benedictine School to help children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve their greatest potential.
Rae was known for her extraordinary Northern Italian cooking, her enthusiasm for bridge, and her love of cannolis. Rae will be remembered for her deep devotion to her family and community.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, Virginia, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. A private family service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date, where she will be interred with her beloved Paul.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benedictine School for Exceptional Children, Ridgely, Maryland, in honor of Rae’s lifelong commitment to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. https://benschool.org/donations/
