Rayburn F. Hesse

Rayburn Francis Hesse passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15th, 2018, at the age of 82.
Born in Purcell, OK, Rayburn attended the University of Oklahoma, then West Point. After serving in the Army, he finished his education at Georgetown University, receiving a Masters in Foreign Service. Rayburn went on to the Department of State, spending over two decades in the field of International Narcotics Matters, and was considered a leading expert on money laundering. His long and storied career took him to over 50 countries, fulfilling his boyhood dream to travel the world.
Rayburn is survived by his 6 children, Elian (Scott) McCready, Lia (Benton) Steffy, Francis (Virginia), Angelyn (Gregg) Galati, Kathryn (David) Bonorchis, and Allison (Jared) Shellaway, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and sister Angelyn Cunningham. He was predeceased by his brother Phillip, and beloved dog Sammy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 8601 Wolftrap Road, SE, Vienna, VA 22182. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Rayburn’s memory to the ASPCA.

I remember Mr. Hesse from the softball fields. He was such a joy to be around. His knowledge of all the girls and teams was amazing. We ever we saw him we knew we were going to enjoy some great conversations. He always spoke so well of my daughters and we truly appreciate that. May he rest in eternal peace
