Richard "Dick" Nelson Malow

Dick Malow passed away after a lengthy illness on June 2, 2016 at his home in Vienna, VA. Originally from Detroit, MI, Dick moved to the DC area in 1964 to begin work as a Research Assistant at the Library of Congress. He later served in management positions at the Department of Agriculture and the Overseas Development Council, and most notably as Clerk of the Veterans Affairs (VA), HUD, and Independent Agencies Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee. In 1994 he began serving as Special Assistant to the President for International Relations for the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), then as Acting Head of Mission in Chile, and finally as a consultant.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Helen Malow; daughter, Jessica; son-in-law Matt Molesworth; and step-granddaughters, Ashley and Samantha Molesworth. Interment will take place in Michigan this week and a memorial service will be planned at a later date.
