Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Mr. and Mrs. Shirley, Rick and I met several months ago, and as his job coach, I found Rick to have a great sense of humor, sensitive, and very open and honest. He embraced the challenges that come with returning to the work world after being out for several years. Rick spoke very highly about the both of you. Rest in peace Rick. Muriel Jackson

  2. I worked with Rick a very short time but can say that it was a pleasure. He had a way of making you smile and brightening your day. He was indeed a jewel and will be missed.

  3. Mr and Mrs. Shirley, I worked with Rick for many years and always enjoyed his wit and kindness. Rick was a very special person and I considered him a friend. I will truly miss him.

  4. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Shirley, I remember you both fondly, I was Rick’s nurse at MVH. I recently saw him at the rehab pinic and had a wonderful talk with him. I kept teasing him that I had the biggest crush on him in the early 90’s but he had eyes for one of our recreational therapists. Rick expressed so much love for his entire family, I asked him a million questions about all of you and he updated me on all the nieces and nephews(everyone was single when he was first a patient here). I also asked him if his mom was still a wonderful cook, I remember all of the wonderful treats you made for the staff. Please know that I am thinking of you and will keep you in my prayers. Fondly, Mary Teale

  5. I was so lucky to talk to Rick at the Rehab Picnic. As always, he made me laugh and had nothing but positive things to say. You’ll always have a place in my heart!

  6. My condolences to the Shirley family. Rick’s sense of humor and love of life impacted many people. Rick always saw the good in people. He will be missed. Sincerely, Henry Vinson Washington, DC

  7. I remember Rick as the cool cucumber older Shirley kid who was always available to mentor us. We always would get together for pool parties at our house or go out to eat with the Shirleys, he was a good looking, very cool cat.
