Robert John Shafer, Lt. Col. U.S. Air Force, (Ret), age 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his home in Fairfax, Va. Beloved husband of the late Elaine Sloop Shafer; devoted father of Richard Shafer and Robert Shafer, Jr.(Sharon); grandfather of Robert Shafer, III (Sarah); great-grandfather of Anastasia and Katerina. Robert Shafer – Bob – was a brave and honorable man, a fine horticulturalist and a serious poet. And he could always make me laugh.
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.
I have lost a special friend,though his stories I have been to the jungles of New Gueinea,Germany, but spent most of our days in Weatherly PA. I’ll miss him so.
