Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Robert M. Siegle, a proud veteran of the USAF, passed away unexpectedly on June 4, 2024. He was born on February 22, 1964, in Reading, PA to Eugene Siegle and the late Carolyn Siegle. Bob attended Nativity BVM High School in Pottsville where he excelled in baseball and football. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Civil Engineering and was subsequently commissioned as an officer in the USAF. He later received a MS in Management from Lesley College and completed Air Command and Staff College as well as Air War College. Bob had a distinguished 21-year career and earned numerous commendations, decorations and awards for his valiant service. Bob served both stateside and overseas, including deployment tours during the Kosovo/Bosnia Conflict and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Throughout his military career, he held many leadership positions that included instrumental roles with the Milstar Satellite Communications program and the successful launch of two satellites which provided near global coverage for strategic forces. Notably, Bob proudly served as an ROTC instructor at San Jose State University, CA, which shaped many cadets into officers. He took tremendous pride in his role and kept in touch with many of his cadets over the years as he continued to provide them with leadership and mentorship. Bob summed up his military career best, “I did not serve 21 years for you, I served 21 years BECAUSE of you, because of your parents, because of your children, because you are Americans”.
In 2004, Bob married his wife Donna, the love of his life. They began a 20-year partnership and journey that included love, laughter and kindness. Their relationship was special and admired by many. Although they had many interests in life, their love and passion for each other was a priority. They were avid travelers and explorers of life and love and shared their happiness and their home with those around them. Bob cherished his time with his family and friends and had a genuine interest in their lives.
After his retirement from the military, Bob was a consultant for the defense industry, and later devoted his time to writing novels, and screen plays that stoked the human spirit and inspired positive change. In addition, he was a volunteer at the Smithsonian Institution, due to his love of service and history. Bob easily captured many an audience during his insightful discussions, delivering information in a captivating and passionate manner.
He was a true light unto this world with boundless energy, contagious enthusiasm, kindness, and a joyous zest for life. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother and uncle. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Donna, his father Eugene, sister Beth Senawaitis, brothers, Steve and Eric, and several nieces and nephews. Bob will be forever missed, but not forgotten, as he will always remain in our hearts.

The family greatly appreciates donations made to these charities in Robert M. Siegle 's name.
My dearest brother. Until we meet again. 💔💔💔. There are no words to express the void your passing will leave in this family’s life. You were a shining light in this world. You made every moment a special occasion. Rest in peace. Forever in our hearts
For me Bob was a true Leader in every aspect of his life. I watched him lead in his faith, his marriage, his family, his friends, his military career, his problem solving and I could keep going and going with this list. I watched him in admiration. If you knew Bob, I am not telling you anything you don’t already know about this incredible man I am honored to have known as my forever friend. Bob served in so many ways I welcome the opporpunity to serve his life and memory. WE LOVE YOU BEE-OH-BEE!
I worked with Bob in MILSATCOM when he was a major, just before his promotion to lieutenant colonel. We instantly had a connection professionally and personally; the latter resulted in many great outdoor adventures including the Camp Pendleton Mud Run and years of SoCal mountain biking over ridiculous terrain. There were also numerous lunches and dinners and Bob always made the get-togethers that much more entertaining. He was a solid guy with high moral character and someone I could always depend on. So glad he met Donna and they had many great years together. Thanks for the memories and your contributions to life overall, Bob; my friend, I will miss you.
A group of us went downtown to see the Monet Immersive Experience. Bob was in his usual sharp witted wisecracking form. It was a special day with a beautiful couple that shined with passion and love as you can see in this picture. Bob will always be one of the hero’s to this guy for his meaningful life led with service to us all and the uncommon energy that comes from a person that loves life and the people in it. His love for his bride Donna was transparent and wonderful. A model of perfection. Miss you terribly my friend…
From Legion baseball to catching a homerun at the College World Series to the writing… So many laughs and deep discussions — and beers. I am sad at the loss of a friend, that our stories are now memories. I am sadder we won’t get to make more new stories. Bob was a friend who was one big life-lesson about being a positive human and to embrace the “joyous zest for life.”
Dear Donna, Mr. Seigle, Beth, Steve, Eric and Family,
We are so very sorry about the loss of ‘Bobby’. He was such a great friend ‘growing up’, and we have such fond memories through the years. Please accept our deepest sympathy and know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Mike and Edie Grapsy
We all know Bob was full of energy and had a special love for life. He was that…and so much more. Bob and I were ICBM crew partners in Wyoming. I was upgrading to commander, and it was standard to assign a strong deputy to make sure things went smoothly. I was lucky enough to have Bob, as mine. His passion for excellence was critical to our success. We were motivated, worked hard and received a highly qualified rating. We were even “randomly” selected to provide a certification brief to the IG at predeparture prior to our first alert…Excellent rating. That partnership quickly grew into friendship. Again, I was the lucky one. He, as an extrovert, helped pull me out of my introvert shell a bit and helped me make it through some challenging times. He was dedicated and loyal. As I left Wyoming, it was customary to have a going away party prior to PSCing to new assignments. At mine, Bob was the first to show up and the last one to leave. I will always remember that. I have many great memories of Bob’s spirit and they always bring a smile to my face. I will miss my friend. I wish Donna, the Siegle family and all his loved ones, my sincerest condolences as we honor this noble man
Our deepest Condolences to Bobby’s Family. Rest in Peace, and Thank you for your service.

Bob and I were in MILSATCOM together and did all the crazy races and runs, and played softball for the base back in the day. We stayed in touch over the years and his retirement inspired me to join the organization he retired from and I still support in post my retirement from military. Just a few months ago while I was in Chantilly we had dinner and a few beers. He still had that amazing energy and push which we all loved!! We had been emailing and staying in touch and he sent his latest football screenplay to me, amazing story! We planned on dinner later this month when I was back…I will miss u my friend and thanks for the memories and the energy, I always walked away from u wanting to be a better person!!! You had one helluva gift!!
Gene, Beth, Steve, Eric & family,
We have good memories of Bob from our days on Cottage hill.

Ron and I will always remember our time in California and Bob was one of those special reasons why our assignment was as enjoyable as it was. Softball, camping, watching the eclipse with shots of sambuca…wonderful memories will always be in our hearts. Beer, bacon, butter BOB. Until we meet again…on the softball diamond in the sky!
