Sarah M. Fernald

Sarah Marie Fernald, 98, passed away on November 19, 2012 after a long illness. She was born on March 23, 1914 in Winterport, Maine. Sarah was one of four children born to Stephen W. and Mildred A. (Condon) McDonough of Main Street. Sarah was married to the late Carl. F. Fernald, also from Winterport. They had one child, a son, William Edward. Her life revolved around maritime careers, pursued by both her husband and father. She spent most of her married life on Long Island, New York. In 2003, at the age of 89, she moved to Virginia to be near her son. She is survived by her son William and daughter-in-law Linda of Great Falls, Va. Family and friends may visit from 2-3 PM on Sunday, November 25th at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.
