Sarah Welsh
October 13, 1989 ~ September 10, 2026
Sarah Ann Welsh, age 36, of Arlington, VA passed away on September 10, 2026 after a lengthy illness.
Sarah was born on October 13,1989 to Tom and Kathy Welsh in Princeton, N.J. She attended Oakton High School in Oakton, VA and graduated in 2008. Sarah was a triple varsity athlete in field hockey, swimming, and lacrosse and served as the Class President for all four years. Sarah went on to double major in Economics and Finance at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, earning honors for her academic achievements.
After college Sarah was hired into an auditing position at Ernst &Young and was soon elevated to a lead position on their Gulfstream account. After two years she decided that auditing was not her passion and switched to the mortgage business. Sarah partnered with her mother Kathy and mastered the business quickly. Together they formed a team that delivered leading volumes for their company for ten years. Furthermore, Sarah was recognized as one of the top originators in the country before her illness forced her to stop working.
Outside her business life Sarah enjoyed many sports including tennis, swimming and golf. Amazingly, she managed to score the elusive hole- in-one. Sarah was also an avid gardener and active in both the American and Washington Daffodil Societies. She was an accredited daffodil judge and enjoyed supporting these organizations however she could.
Most importantly, Sarah enjoyed her time with family and friends. One of her favorite activities was spoiling her nephew and niece. She logged many hours looking for fun toys and trinkets for each holiday and special occasion. While home she and her beloved french bulldog Pepper were often seen walking the neighborhood meeting and making new friends. They became a fixture and were loved by both children and adults alike. Sarah’s many kind gestures to all those around her will be one of the many things we will miss.
Sarah is survived by her parents Tom and Kathy Welsh, her sister Katie Robinson and Katie’s husband Zach and a nephew and niece Tommy and Riley.
A service will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 1pm at Vienna Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception at International Country Club.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Daffodil Society in Sarah’s name.
