Stephen J. Hassett, age 62, of Falls Church, VA, died on October 27, 2013. Son of the late CDR Walter D. Hassett Sr., USN, and Dorothy Watt Hassett; brother of Walter D. Hassett, Jr., Mary Combs Gaston (Jerry M. Gaston) and the late Jeffery P. Hassett; and uncle of Sarah E. Gaston and the late Christopher C. Combs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity benefiting members of the U.S. Arms Services

So sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. My condolences to his family and friends.
I was saddened to learn of Steve’s passing. We met in 1972 and continued long distance communications first through my mother, Jane Ehardt Hall and later by email as I have resided in Texas for 28 years. Our communications were sporadic at best. I so enjoyed the beautiful pictures of his home he built in the Blue Ridge mountains and the occasional CDs he would send me knowing I loved VanMorrison. It seems we fell out of touch around the failing years of my mother’s life and her passing in 2012. Stephen will always hold a special place in my hheart. If I had been older than 17, I wonder if things could have been different. Your brother I’m sure touched many lifes. I am so sorry to only learning this now. May he rest in peace and God’s blessings to you Walter and Mary Frances.
