Stuart Thornton Terrett III

Stuart Thorton Terrett III peacefully passed away on October 23, 2023. Stuart was born on June 8, 1928, in Washington DC, to Fayette Luzader, and Stuart T Terrett, Junior. Stuart enlisted in the United States Army as a surveyor in post-World War II Europe from 1950 to 1952 years. He returned home, and attended The George Washington University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1955. He began his civil engineering career in Norfolk, Virginia. He then worked as a civil engineer in Fairfax County, and became the Director of design review department for Fairfax County where he served for 22 years.

On June 6, 1953, Stuart married Elizabeth Ann Hebb Terrett, known as Betsy to all. They spent an amazing 62 years together. They had four children, Stuart Thorton Terrett IV, Nancy Lynn, Marjorie Ann, Suzanne Marie. They have seven beloved grandchildren.

Stuart enjoyed life to the fullest, he loved baseball and had a passion for golf, which lasted many years. In 1993 he and his wife, Betsy retired to Fenwick Island Delaware to enjoy the beach.

Stuart is predeceased by his parents, by his siblings, Nancy, Hunter, and Suzanne Terrett. He’s also predeceased by his loving wife, and three daughters Marjorie, Nancy, and Suzanne with Stuart Thornton Terrett IV surviving.

Stuart’s life, and accomplishments will be celebrated at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on November 6, 2023 with visitation from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 8601 Wolf Trap Rd., Vienna, VA on November 7, 2023 at 11:00 am.
