Of McLean, VA., died on Monday, April 23, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. Loving wife of 49 years to John H. Buckland; devoted mother of Christopher and his wife Jeannine and Jason Buckland; sister of Linda Colliers and cherished grandmother of Alexa and Samantha Buckland. Sylvia loved to travel with her husband and spend time with her family especially her granddaughters. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 1710, New York, NY 10122.

Sylvia was one of my dearest friends. She was funny, kind, witty, compassionate, smart as a whip, a great cook, a hard worker, and a fabulous friend. She taught us how to live, and as she faced this illness….she taught us all so much about how to leave this world with dignity and, yes….humor at the most difficult times of her life.
