August 25, 1951 ~ September 3, 2026

Born in: Taunton, Massachusetts
Resided in: Clifton, Virginia

Dr Terry Eugene Collins of Clifton, VA passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital with his wife by his side after a short illness. He was born on August 25, 1951 along with his twin brother to the late Timothy M. Collins and Mary Flynn Collins.  He grew up in Agawam, MA, where he thrived and excelled in school and had a love for learning. He was known as the “Trivia King” amongst his peers and colleagues.

Terry graduated from Cathedral High School, Springfield, MA and received his degree in Chemistry from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA.  Then he attained his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he met his future wife, Anne, a classmate at Tufts. They were married five days after graduation on June 25, 1976 at St Luke’s Catholic Church in Barrington, RI and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Terry had completed Air Force ROTC in college and was a recipient of the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program while at Tufts. Both Terry and Anne proudly served their country together for 20 plus year careers in the USAF Dental Corps.  Following his military retirement, he was employed by United Airlines for another 20 years where he continued to make numerous friends.

In addition to his professional achievements as a dentist and leader in the Air Force, Terry was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  He would want his greatest legacy to be his family and the fact that he lived a life of integrity, modesty, humility, compassion for those around him, and dedication to improving the lives of his patients. He was well known for his sense of humor, kindness, and generosity. One of his favorite places to escape to was his vacation home in Hyannis, MA.  There he could relax, walk along the beaches, and eat New England seafood at his favorite restaurants.

Terry is survived by his devoted wife, Dr Anne Revoir Collins, his son Patrick Collins (Angela) of Herndon, VA; his daughter Meghan Lanzet (Brandt) of Katy, TX; his beloved grandchildren including Quinn, Julia, and Asher; and his twin brother Timothy M. Collins of Falls Church, VA.

He will be sadly missed but remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Terry loved nothing better than entertaining friends with his dry wit, being with family, and making everyone in his presence feel comfortable.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Brain Injury Association of America, 3057 Nutley Street #805, Fairfax, VA 22031-1931 or online at: https://biausa.org/

  1. The Owners and Staff at the Money and King Funeral Home, wish to express our sincere sympathy to you. It is our hope that we may be able to make a difficult time more bearable. Please feel free to call us anytime as we are always available to you.

  2. I want to extend my sincere condolences to the whole Collins family. I did not know Terry well as our geographical paths did not cross until the he and Anne moved to northern Virginia, but I have been close friends with Anne (or AB as we used to call her) since West Hartford days.
On the few occasions that I spent time with Terry, I was so impressed by his dry wit, sense of humor, and Irish sparkle in his eyes, not to mention his culinary talents and encyclopedic knowledge of movies and TV! There is no one who was more devoted to his wife, pets, and family. He will be sorely missed.

  3. Terry and I worked together for many years at United, including seven years side-by-side in the same department. Even after he retired, we stayed in touch. It sometimes took people a little time to catch on to his dry sense of humor, but once you did, you were never far from a laugh. And of course, no one could forget his encyclopedic knowledge of movies, especially his love for sci-fi and horror. Above all, Terry was deeply devoted to his wife, his family, and his pets. He was a great colleague and a true friend, and he will be dearly missed.

  4. I worked with Terry at United Airlines. He was a great guy. Funny and full of knowledge. Loved to have a chat when our paths crossed. RIP Terry. Condolences to his family.

  5. Tim, Anne and family:

Terry was the best college roommate a person could ever wish for. He and Tim helped shape and broaden my world view. We influenced each other as would be expected during collegiate life. Our interests in the Air Force, science, science fiction, politics and general outlook on life were mutual. How lucky was I to have discovered such kindred spirits as these brothers! I will never forget our times in ROTC, late night debates with Mike Wronski, our train ride to visit the Collins residence for the weekend and other countless escapades. All memorable times. I regret not being able to see him in person these last few years just because we’re at an age where time is so precious and this saddens me…but at least we were able to talk over the phone some.
At the risk of sounding cliche, Terry (and Tim) are, for me, one-of-kind and hold a special place in my heart. He will truly missed. I also look forward to properly catching up with him in the here-after, comparing notes and resuming the same activities that made us such good friends.
To the Collins family: Pease accept my heartfelt condolences for such a significant loss. He was irreplaceable.

  6. I remember when you were born (you and Tim) your first dog Coco. All the time we have been together were wonderful. I miss you dearly. Cousin Patty

  7. I was a classmate (class of ’73) at Holy Cross College. Although I did not know him there, I appreciate all the wonderful accomplishments he achieved. Today, MarySandra and I will say the Rosary for Terry, and we are sure that Our Lady, Notre Dame, came to meet him and bring him safely to his heavenly home. May the God of infinite love watch over our brother, and may He bless and keep Terry’s family in His loving Sacred Heart. “In hoc signo vinces!”.
