  1. Mr. Duncan, You were an incredible man, husband, father & leader. Words can express how much you will be missed. Our country loss a true warrior; however, God gained an angel! Peace be with you and the Duncan Family, K.N. Patton

  2. Words simply fail at a time like this. I worked closely w/ Terry for 5-1/2 yrs ever since he left Pentagon. He will be very sorely missed: the man, the leader, the coworker, the friend. So very sorry for your loss.

  3. Mr Duncan, You were a brilliant leader who affected many people in many ways. You will be missed. May God forever hold your family and your soul in the palm of His Hand.

  4. I have been a leadership development consultant for over 25 years and had the absolute privilege of working with Terry for the past 3 years. He was one of the most outstanding leaders I have ever worked with. He had the rare combination of a caring heart and a brilliant mind. He cared so deeply about his team, his organization, his country and most of all his family. You have my deepest sympathy. He will be greatly greatly missed.

  5. Much can and should be said about Terry’s visionary leadership and gifted knowledge of so many facets of our work. Yet many times more significant is the great person who Terry was. I truly enjoyed and was personally honored to get to know Terry over the last few years. I will miss our discussions about family, cars and much more. My sincerest condolences to your wonderful family. May you rest in eternal peace.

From the first day I met Terry I knew he was special so intelligent, well read, a team player, incredible analyst, organized, respectful of others, dedicated, loyal, and caring. He accepted new responsibilities like a sponge and produced. He had all the makings of a great leader and it became so. God seems to take the great ones early. He may have other purposes. But it doesnt diminish the heart ache and loss for you and us. Terrys SOR family is reeling, stunned, and greatly saddened. We are all praying for your comfort and a way forward in this, the hardest of times presented to us as part of the cycle of life and death. Mary Jo, may God have blessings on you and your family.

  59. It’s surreal that Terry has passed on, but I feel deeply fortunate to have known him. Terry hired me at the SOR when I was a brand new 2Lt, and his faith and confidence in me made a huge difference. I will always remember the day I met him, full of life and enthusiasm. I wouldn’t be who or where I am now without him. Fun memory: while I was at the Naval Postgraduate School, Terry and Rob Johnson came to a conference with a reception at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. In the round anchovy tank, one anchovy was swimming around in the opposite direction of the hundreds of others, and the three of us followed the nonconformer around and around the tank for a very long time. We joked how easily amused we scientists and engineers were by a little fish… To Terry’s family, thank you for sharing his light with the world. He passed on far too soon, but he left an amazing legacy in the world. I’m sure he leaves an even greater one with you. Deepest condolences, Melissa Corley Carter and Alan Carter

  116. Dear Mary Jo, I am so incredibly sorry to learn of Terry’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids during this extraordinarily difficult time. My deepest sympathies, dear friend.

  117. Mary Jo and family, what a great guy Terry was and what memories I’m sure your family made. I met Terry in June 1988; we were basics and Doolies together at the zoo. He was an incredibly smart guy that caught lots of grief over that Kentucky drawl. Regardless, he was an integral part of many successful Academy and USAF careers. When I heard he made the SES, I was both surprised and nonplussed: simple, Terry did what Terry set his mind to. I still have the stereo he convinced me to buy at the C-Store as soon as we were recognized. On his recommendation alone, I WAY overspent for what is still today a superior system playing in our home daily. Sadly, we went our separate ways after the first year and especially graduation. Regardless, Terry will always rank at the top of my list of those I admire and respect. He had a quiet confidence that inspired others to achieve. May our Lord pour his richest blessings upon your family and surround you in His comforting arms.

  118. Mary jo, I was so saddened to hear of Terry’s passing. I have fond memories of he and I biking through the muddy Monzano mountains and returning home to have you hose us off in the backyard before we were allowed inside. It was hard to look tough on a purple “Rockadile” but Terry didn’t care, he just had fun and lightened the lives of everyone around him. I’m glad I got one last chance to see him back at the 20th reunion. May God bless you and keep watch over your family. Sincerely, Sean Londrigan
