Thang Za Lian
July 16, 1945 ~ December 11, 2019
At the age of 74,Dr. Thang Za Lian (Dr. Lian Kok) went home to be with Jesus on December 11, 2019 at Reston Hospital Center (ER).
Dr. Lian is survived by his wife Dim Pau of 43 years, daughters Man Sen (Rosy), Niang (Wathan), Khawm (Haymann), Cio (Wathon) and son Thawng Thawng (Pyi Sone), brothers Pome Ko Khai, Khup Khan Pau, Cin Kho Kam, sisters Cherry Khaing, Cissy Khaing, Ciang Kaang, 23 loving nieces and nephews, 24 loving grandchildren including Pau Uap (Grace), Lian Khai (Aaron), Lian Mung (Abel), so many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, grand nieces, nephews and extended family. Dr. Lian was a loving father, a husband, a grandfather and a friend to all.
Dr. Lian was a dental surgeon for 36 years and retired in 2012 to live with his 3 older daughters in the USA. From 2007 to 2018, he would travel to the Chin hills in the summer to offer dentistry to remote villages where the residents haven’t seen any kind of doctors for 20 years free of charge. His trips were funded mainly by his families’ contributions.
Dr. Lian loved sports and especially enjoyed playing golf and tennis. During his medical school years, he was a member of the university tennis team. He also enjoyed reading. Most of all, he loved God and he has the strongest faith.
