Theo Thompson

Theodore James Thompson, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on July 23, 2023, after a long battle with a third lifetime occurrence of cancer.

Theo (Ted) was born on January 23, 1963 to Vernon Ralph Thompson II and Jean Ann Thompson, née Hurlburt, in Rochester, New York. His creative talents in interior design, landscape, and cuisine were ignited with the family’s move to central Connecticut (during his high school years,) where he was exposed to the classic New England aesthetic, helped manage the family antique shop, and honed his culinary skills working with a prominent local caterer.

After working in Florida as a personal chef and estate manager, Theo came to the Washington, D.C. area in the early nineties to work as a private chef in McLean, Virginia. In 1998, Theo met John Fellin, and they spent the next twenty-five years following a shared passion for renovation and honing Theo’s design abilities through multiple homes in McLean and finally in Arlington.

Theo found his true calling as an interior designer doing design and selections for a number of luxury home builders in McLean, Virginia. Theo was much sought after by private homeowners seeking advice on luxury home renovations, as well as friends and real estate agent’s clients selling luxury properties. Theo was a treasured team member with Piper and Karina of The Yerks Team at Washington Fine Properties. He also consulted with many other luxury real estate agents in the DMV especially McLean and Arlington. He established life-long friendships with the people with whom he worked.

Theo was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his mother, brothers Vernon Thompson III and Christopher Thompson, and nephews Ryan and Colin Thompson and niece Emily Thompson, and many cherished friends.

The wake is scheduled for Tuesday, August 22, at Money & King in Vienna, and the Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 23, at 11:00 at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, in McLean, Virginia. Reception following Mass at 3708 23rd St. N, Arlington, Virginia.
