Of Vienna, VA, died on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at The Virginian in Fairfax, VA. Ted served a distinguished Naval career retiring on June 30, 1970 During and after his Naval and Teaching Careers his greatest accomplishments were being a husband, father, grandfather, patriarch, confidant and advisor. Ted was a shining example of integrity, honesty, and how to lead a life well lived.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernice Sedy Curtis; Devoted father of Gary (Janet), Scott (Kerry) and the late Michael Curtis. He is also survived by 1 sister, Dolores Snyder, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Cdr. Curtis got me my first job when I was right out of high school and I will always be truly grateful for his love and support. He was a wonderful neighbor, friend and boss. He will be missed by all. God’s blessings to Gary, Scott and Mrs. Curtis. Love Linda (wolfe) & Robert King
Ted was a valued shipmate of mine in USS Halsey Powell in Korean waters in 1951-52. Together with our boat crews we went on several missions behind enemy lines. He taught us, demanded the best from us, and gave us his support. I will miss him. RADM James A. Winnefeld USN ret
I met Cdr. Curtis when I went aboard the USS Gregory DD802 in the spring of 1959. I was a Radarman in the Ops Division. I remember him very well. We just had a gathering of some of the Radarmen and his name came up. Sorry to hear of his death. I am sending good thoughts to the Curtis Family, sorry for your loss. He will be missed by a large number of sailors.

Ted was a wonderful person. I had the pleasure of being his neighbor while I was in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. He had a steadfast way that was comforting. I learned many things about nature from him. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
