Valorie Jean Winslow, 77, of Reston Virginia died November 18. Val is survived by her brother, Charles (and Gail) Redick of Waynesboro, Maryland and sister, Arlene (and David) Stover, of Colchester, Connecticut. She is also survived by two daughters Nancy (and Byron) Dorchester of West Hartford, Connecticut and Rylan (and Carl) Hutzler, of Reston, Virginia. She is survived by four grandchildren: Danielle Dorchester, Rexford Dorchester, Jacob Hutzler and Anna Hutzler. Val, a legal secretary, retired from Day Pitney after 30 years in their Hartford and Washington D.C. offices.
Val greatly enjoyed singing, especially Barbershop music. She sang with the Sweet Adelines for many years and competed with her chorus in Connecticut in international competitions all over the country. She loved to travel, especially her trips to China and Hungary with the Sweet Adelines. In her later years, she and her daughter Rylan enjoyed cruising together attending the Cayamo music festival aboard the Norwegian Pearl.
Val was a devoted attendee of the Harmony Foundation international men’s Barbershop competition. She was a President’s Council member, enjoying all the activities through the week of competition.
