Verne L. Meier
August 20, 1928 ~ June 27, 2021
Verne L. Meier of McLean, VA joined the love of his life Nina in Heaven on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Verne was born on Aug 20, 1928 in Nebraska. He and most of his 11 brothers and sisters attended Peru State Teachers College where he graduated in 1950. After graduation Verne joined the US Navy and became a submariner. After his service to our great country (his words) he went on to obtain his graduate degree at Colorado University. From there he went on to have a fulfilling career as an electrical engineer working for NASA, Boeing, and GE. Verne and Nina were married March 14, 1964 and lived happily together for nearly 50 years. In his spare time his passion was golf; Verne was a charter member of the International Country Club in Chantilly, VA and played there for 48 years. He was the last of 12 Meier brothers and sisters and had no children but is survived by a wide and wonderful family of nieces and nephews along with several great and great-greats. A funeral service will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 11AM at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA 22180. A wonderful evening celebrating Verne’s 90th birthday. We will miss him. Don and Jane
Verne and Nina were happiest together. Now they are together forever and that is exactly what Verne had been waiting for since Nina passed onto the Lord several years ago. They were both kind, generous, and vibrant people who will be missed by all. It is so fitting that they will be buried together in Arlington Cemetery. We are neighbors of Verne and Nina and feel very fortunate to have known both of them. Verne was very courageous in fighting through health issues in his later years but nearly always had a smile and a warm greeting for others. He was a wonderful neighbor and we will miss him. We normally called him almost every day to check on him. About a week before Verne passed I had an accident and ended up in the hospital and Verne called to check on me which seemed ironic. Verne cared a lot about other people and we will not forget him. John and Vicki Vernon
